07/12/2008: Primaris Airlines has officially suspended operations on December 1, 2008; Kras Air has officially suspended operations on November 1, 2008 (no further info available);
18/11/2008: Aladia has suspended operations on October 21, 2008; the Mexican charter company had to shut down due to the uncertain economical situation;
16/11/2008: Aerogal of Ecuador is a new Boeing 757 operator. The operator will shortly receive its first aircraft (c/n 25593) from the Synergy Group (owner of Avianca). At this moment Aerogal will get 2 757’s which will be operated in a 170 passenger configuration (J12Y58);
29/10/2008: Northwest Airlines officially merged with Delta Air Lines;
26/10/2008: Kelowna Flightcraft is a new Canadian Boeing 757 operator; the company took over a former Zoom Airlines’ 757. The aircraft in question is C-GTSN (c/n 24543) and was registered on September 16. It’s currently stored at Lasham;
08/09/2008: Nordwind Airlines is a new Russian Chater carrier which will launch charter service in late August – early September 2008. The company will provide the air service on Boeings 757-200s. One jet will be acquired under wet leasing contract with VIM Airlines and another two jets will be leased (ex EOS Airlines aircraft). Initially, the company will start flights from Domodedovo International Airport as it signed a contract for maintenance of the 757s with Domodedovo-based VIM Airlines. However, in the future the company is going to move to Sheremetyevo International Airport. Besides the 757s, Nordwind is going to acquire 4-6 average-haul jets Airbus A320. The company was set up by Pegas-Turistik travel operator and Pegasus (Turkey). The deals on aircraft acquisition will be financed by both companies (Source: AVIA.RU);
17/08/2008: Euro Mediterranean Airlines was renamed Air Italy Egypt in 2008 (exact not known);
13/07/2008: Gainjet of Greece is a new Boeing 757 operator. The airline will receive the 757 (c/n 30232), in a 50 seat configuration, in September. It’s not know at this time if the aircraft will leased from Vim Airlines or if Vim Airlines will be returning the aircraft to the lessor, which then will be leasing it to Gainjet;
16/05/2008: Capital Cargo International Airlines has recieved its first Boeing 757 freighter; the aircraft, N620DL (cn 22910), was spotted at Cecil Field on May 3 in full c/s & named ‘Captain Jim Roberts’;
12/05/2008: Angkor Airways has suspended operations on May 12, 2008;
08/05/2008: RAK Airways is leasing a Boeing 757-200 from Primaris Airlines; the aircraft, N741PA (c/n 24737), was seen at Shannon on May 8 in basic Primaris c/s, RAK Airways titles & tail c/s;
16/04/2008: BMI is leasing 2 Boeing 757-200s from Astraeus; the aircraft, G-STRX (c/n 25621) & G-STRY (c/n 28161), will operate in full BMI c/s;
30/03/2008: FlyLaL is the latest Boeing 757 operator; the company from Lithuania, will be leasing 3 757-200s; first aircraft will be c/n 27237 which ferried as LY-FLG to Costa Rica for a C-check & repaint; Zoom Airlines has leased a second Boeing 757; the aircraft, registered C-GTDX, was previously operated by Ryan International;
20/01/2008: Cargojet of Canada will receive its first Boeing 757 in August 2008. The aircraft, currently flying for TUIfly Nordic as SE-DUO (c/n 24792), will be converted to freighter; PrimaCharter (formerly Fischer Air Polska) has ceased operations. It’s only aircraft, SP-FVR (c/n 25490), was returned to AWAS on January 16, 2008.
