Air Berlin cleared to participate in Belair

Both, the German Federal Cartel office and the European Commission negated the
obligation to register the Air Berlin PLC participation of 49% in the Swiss
airline Belair Airlines AG. The same had been declared by the Swiss Cartel
Office before. Thus, the way has been cleared for a participation of Air Berlin.

Belair is a subsidiary of the Hotelplan group, which is wholly owned by the
Migros business group. Hotelplan AG is an internationally acting travel
organisation with a turnover of 2 billion Swiss francs. They have got a
workforce of 2,960 employees. At present Belair runs three aircrafts: two of
the type Boeing 757-200 and one Boeing 767-300. Whereas Air Berlin aims at
intensifying their activities in the Swiss market, Hotelplan derives an
advantage from integrating Belair into the sales and logistics of Air
Berlin. "Now even starting from Switzerland, we can serve all international
lines," Joachim Hunold, the Chairman of the Executive Board of Air Berlin,
stated.
